Most common irregular verbs
Spanish has about 200 irregular verbs, but 7-10 of them cover half of all speech. Today we consolidate the ones we've already met and add saber and conocer (two different 'know's).

ser: soy, eres, es, somos, sois, son. estar: estoy, estás, está, estamos, estáis, están. tener: tengo, tienes, tiene, tenemos, tenéis, tienen. ir: voy, vas, va, vamos, vais, van. ver: veo, ves, ve, vemos, veis, ven. dar: doy, das, da, damos, dais, dan.
HACER — to do / to make
hacer: yo hago, tú haces, él hace, nosotros hacemos, vosotros hacéis, ellos hacen. The only surprise is the yo form. Also used for weather: Hace frío (it's cold), Hace calor (it's hot), Hace sol (it's sunny).
DECIR — to say, to tell
decir: yo digo, tú dices, él dice, nosotros decimos, vosotros decís, ellos dicen. Double irregularity: irregular yo form AND e→i stem change. Past participle — dicho. Te digo la verdad = I'm telling you the truth.
SABER vs CONOCER — two 'to know's
English has one 'to know'; Spanish has two. saber (yo sé, tú sabes, él sabe, sabemos, sabéis, saben) — to know a fact, to know information, to know how to (do something). Sé tu nombre = I know your name. Sé hablar español = I know how to speak Spanish. conocer (yo conozco, tú conoces…) — to be acquainted with a person, place, or work. Conozco a María = I know María. Conozco Madrid = I know Madrid (have been there).
Stem-changing vowels
Many irregulars are predictable — the stem vowel just shifts under stress. Three patterns: e→ie (querer → quiero, pensar → pienso, empezar → empiezo), o→ue (poder → puedo, dormir → duermo, volver → vuelvo), e→i (pedir → pido, decir → digo, vestir → visto). The change disappears in nosotros/vosotros (where the stress is on the ending): quiero, queremos.
A practice round
Hago la tarea. Digo hola. Sé tu nombre. Conozco a tu amigo. Vengo a casa. Pongo el libro en la mesa. Salgo a las siete. The yo forms with 'g' inside form a family: hago, digo, tengo, vengo, pongo, salgo. Memorize them as a group.
